As part of our statutory requirements we can supply information and certificates of registration to residents.
We can offer the electoral register (either the open version to buy or the full version to view) and also certificates of registration.
Certificates of Registration
This is a headed letter from the Council, which confirms that the name of an elector appears on the electoral register at a given address. This letter is typically requested in connection with opening of bank accounts, requests for credit, housing, job references and/or for personal records.
When deciding to obtain the certificate you are advised to contact the Electoral Services Office to confirm that you are registered on the Electoral Register for the period of time in question. Please provide Electoral Services with all addresses and dates you require the Certificate to cover along with any other relevant information, so we can assist you with your request.
Inspection of the full electoral register
The current full electoral register is open for free of charge inspection by the general public under strict supervision (past registers are not available for inspection). The Electoral Services Office holds the right to request identification from the viewer as well as ask for which purpose they require the information. The Library in Uxbridge also holds a copy of the full register and can be inspected by the general public under strict supervision. The law forbids anyone from taking copies of all or part of the Register, but hand-notes are allowed.
Sale of the open register
The open register, in whole or in part, is available for purchase by anyone requesting a copy, and it can be used for any lawful reason, including direct marketing. Information can be supplied for the borough or per ward, in either data or printed formats.
The statutory charges for the sale of the electoral register are calculated using the following formula:
Data format: £20 admin fee + (£1.50 x 1000 entries/or part)
Paper format: £10 admin fee + (£5 x 1000 entries/or part)
