The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) enables young people to use their energy and passion to change the world for the better. It is run by young people for young people.
What is the UK Youth Parliament?
The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) provides opportunities for 11 to 19-year-olds (up to 25 with SEND) to use their voice in creative ways to bring about positive social change.
It is made up of more than 600 members of youth parliament, who are elected in annual youth elections throughout the UK.
In the past 2 years, 1 million young people have voted in UK Youth Parliament elections.
What is a Member of Youth Parliament?
The role of a member of youth parlaiment (MYP) is to represent the voices and listen to the concerns of young people in their local area.
Members of youth parliament:
are committed to creating positive change
work with local decision-makers, including local and national government, MPs and local councillors, and providers of services for young people
create and run campaigns
make speeches and hold debates
organise events.
All MYPs meet once a year at the UK Youth Parliament Annual Sitting and attend regional meetings throughout the year.

MYPs are elected by their peers; Hillingdon has 2 MYPs elected annually. MYPs are politically neutral.
