Young Enterprise Company Programme

If you're aged 13 to 19 and want to learn how to run your own business, our Young Enterprise Company Programme can give you first-hand experience of the world of work.

About the programme

The Young Enterprise Company Programme allows you to set up and run your own student company, where you will make all the decisions about your business, from deciding on a company name and product, to managing the company finances.

You'll also have the chance to promote and sell your product through pop-up shops and an online store.

The programme lasts a minimum of 12 weeks and will help you:

  • gain practical business experience, working as part of a team
  • gain confidence, practical know-how and prepare for the world of work.
  • develop a range of qualities and skills that employers value
  • explore self-employment and entrepreneurship as a possible career pathway.

Additionally, you will gain 40 UCAS points towards university applications and your work can also go towards fulfilling elements of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

During the programme, guidance will be available through a dedicated online platform, with useful videos and resources, and a business adviser will also support you.

The programme costs £15 per person to take part. Some applicants may qualify for a bursary to help cover the cost.
