Types of parking

Resident parking

Find out when you can park in permit holder spaces for residents.

When can I park in a 'Permit holders only' bay?

  • You can park in these bays if you have a valid Resident's Parking Permit or a visitor voucher.
  • During operating hours (usually 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday), you'll need a permit for the specific zone. The operating hours and permit zone are shown on signs at each parking bay. Outside the operating hours, anyone can park in a permit holders only bay.
  • Vehicles displaying a valid Blue Badge are also permitted to park in a permit holders only bay without a time limit.
  • Bank holidays may affect parking restrictions and car park operating hours.

Suspensions of bays

We sometimes have to suspend permit holders only bays, for example for roadworks or a skip placement.

If we do this, we'll normally give 3 days' notice (unless it's an emergency) before the suspension begins. When possible, suspension warning signs will be erected on the nearest resident sign post. These signs will indicate the operating times of the suspension.

Parking will not be permitted in the suspended bay/space during the operating hours of the parking suspension.
