New Mayor - Cllr Becky Haggar
She replaces retiring Mayor, Cllr Roy Chamdal, in this esteemed role that highlights all the positive work taking place across the borough. During the meeting Cllr Ahmad-Wallana was also appointed as Deputy Mayor.

Cllr Haggar has been a Hillingdon resident in Ruislip since the age of two and a councillor for the Eastcote and East Ruislip ward since she was first elected in 2014. Since 2022 she has represented the new Eastcote ward. She will be accompanied by her husband and Mayor's Consort, Mr Marios Kaikitis and escorted by her daughters, Pollyanna and Ellie Haggar.

The Mayor will attend local events, performances and exhibitions, and welcome schools and community groups to the Mayor's Parlour and Council Chamber.

She said: "I am excited about serving the community as Mayor of Hillingdon. I have always enjoyed getting involved in local initiatives and events and have a passion for charity work and helping others. I look forward to a busy and exciting year ahead, full of vibrant events such as marking the Queens Platinum Jubilee year.

"My aim is create new friendships and partnerships with residents, and highlight the fascinating history of this great borough, and how we all play a part in both its past and future."

Cllr Haggar has used the life experiences learnt from her late husband's illness and passing, to work with officers as the Carers' Champion for the borough, improving services and advocating carers voices. She has received several awards for her services in the community, including a British Airways award and an Our Local Hero Award.

She added: "I look forward to working with local charities and organisations. My two chosen charities are The Daniella Logun Foundation, a children's brain tumour charity, and the Magical Marvellous Picture House, which helps disabled residents gain skills."

Retiring Mayor, Cllr Roy Chamdal, spoke of his time spent as Mayor of Hillingdon. He said: "I have enjoyed every event I got to attend this year. A definite perk has been attending all the various religious events in the borough. Celebrating individuals and organisations from Scout groups to our emergency services was also an honour and a privilege.

"It has been a wonderful year. I will now go back to running my business, but still plan to keep supporting my chosen charities. My thanks to everyone who has donated to them, it is very much appreciated."
