Hillingdon Council appoints Interim Chief Executive
Thursday 18 November: At today's (18 November) Full Council meeting Tony Zaman was appointed as Hillingdon Council's Interim Chief Executive and Head of Paid Service effective from 1 January 2022.
This follows last month's announcement that Chief Executive, Fran Beasley will retire at the end of the year.
Tony is currently the Corporate Director Social Care and Health and joined the council eight years ago. While being responsible for social care services he has developed a strong leadership team and demonstrated an ability to work across a range of council services and with partners in the NHS, and private and voluntary sectors to deliver modernised and transformed services for Hillingdon residents.
Prior to working for Hillingdon Council, Tony worked at a number of local authorities, four at a senior level. These included social care roles, and managing and improving performance, delivering major change programmes and leading a range of support services.
Tony said: "Coming to work in Hillingdon has been the best move in my working life.
"I have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of working with corporate colleagues and service areas in providing an incredible range of services for residents.
"I am immensely proud to have been given the opportunity to follow someone of Fran Beasley's standing in assuming the mantle of Interim Chief Executive.
"I receive the opportunity with an awareness of the challenges ahead and optimism in being able to work with the depth and breadth of our teams to ensure a smooth transition, and I am sure that we can create a shared energy and enthusiasm to continue delivering the council's vision."
