Adult education courses for 2021 to boost your skills and launch your career

Friday 8 October: The new academic year launched in September and there's never been a better time to start your career or boost your skills with one of Hillingdon Council's adult learning courses.

A group of adult learnersA broad range of high quality and inclusive opportunities are on offer, whether you want to gain a qualification, change career, build on your existing skills, want to just get creative or simply learn something new.   

Courses are held either in-person at one of our four centres across the borough, in the community (as part of established groups, at schools and children's centres) or online. They are also priced to be value for money, offering the opportunity to develop skills, start a new hobby, begin a new vocation or to support your health and wellbeing.   

Our programme caters for all ages and abilities, offering something for everyone, with levels ranging from beginners to intermediate, as well as sessions that are more advanced. New courses are added regularly. 

The 2021/22 programme contains more than 70 nationally recognised qualifications and features a variety of subjects, including floristry and horticulture, English, maths, accounting, childcare, health and social care, yoga, sewing, painting, foreign languages and digital skills.   

The newest addition is a Level 2 certificate in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health. The 30-week online course starts on 6 November and is perfect for those interested in developing their skills and a career in the care or pastoral care sector. 

Cllr Susan O'Brien, Hillingdon Council's Cabinet Member for Families, Education and Wellbeing said: "We're extremely pleased to be able to offer another exciting, diverse and varied selection of courses for this new term, ensuring there's something for everyone whether you're looking to get into work, change career, or learn a new skill. 

"Many residents have benefited by expanding their skills and knowledge through our accessible and affordable courses and for some it has changed lives and career paths, so I look forward to watching our new students experience similar successes.
