2018 London in Bloom winners

Hillingdon scooped a series of prestigious accolades at this year's London in Bloom awards - further establishing its reputation as the capital's greenest borough.

Hillingdon saw off competition from other London boroughs to win nine gold and seven silver gilt awards for its parks, green spaces and gardens.

The borough won gold in the "large city" category - an accolade it retained from last year. It was also judged overall winner in the category for the second year in a row.

The council's Rural Activities Garden Centre, which provides educational and employment opportunities for adults with additional needs, also won a gold and was named overall winner in the "small park of the year" category. Volunteer gardeners from the garden centre - affectionately known as "gardeners" - are no strangers to receiving awards, having recently won a gold medal at the Hampton Court Flower Show.
