Hillingdon Libraries is hosting a range of online children's events on Zoom to celebrate this year's . 


Storytime with author Caryl Hart: 'Mini Monsters - Can I  Play?'

Friday 31 July, 2pm to 2.30pm 

For children aged 2 to 7 and their parents and carers. 

Join children's author Caryl Hart for a story and song session as she shares her picture book Mini Monsters - Can I Play? ("perfectly pitched for older toddlers and pre-schoolers" - BookTrust). Caryl will also introduce a fun follow-up activity that parents can enjoy with their children after the event.


Margaret Bateson-Hill: The King Who wanted to Touch the Moon

Tuesday August 4,  2pm to 2.45pm

For children aged 4 to 7 and their parents and carers 

Come and enjoy this traditional tale, retold with actions and songs by Margaret Bateson-Hill. 

A foolish king wants to touch the Moon "Now! Immediately! There's no such word as can't!" Whatever will the royal carpenter do when the king commands him to help?

How would you choose to get to the moon? To help you on your way, Margaret will show you how to make an astronaut's helmet and a royal crown. All you need is A4 card and a pair of scissors!

Join storyteller John Kirk for a very special online retelling of Roald Dahl's The Enormous Crocodile.  

In the biggest, brownest, muddiest river in Africa, an enormous crocodile is making plans to eat juicy little children for his lunch. Will he succeed or will the other jungle animals stop him? This presentation is made with kind permission from The Roald Dahl Story Company, Casarotto Ramsay and Netflix.

Children's author Jennifer Killick introduces you to the wonderful world of Alex Sparrow in this special event inspired by her book Alex Sparrow and the Zumbie Apocalypse. Expect exciting zumbie-tastic activities and a thrilling reading from the story!
