Prime Minister thanks council workers for pandemic response
Wednesday 3 June: The Rt Hon Boris Johnson, Prime Minister and MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip, joined a video call with employees from the council's Contact Centre and coronavirus support hub on Friday 29 May.
During the call, the Prime Minister asked about the council's response to COVID-19 and the impact of the virus on local residents and businesses.
The Prime Minister listened to the experiences of staff who have been involved in supporting residents with food deliveries, welfare checks, emergency housing repairs, domestic abuse reports and befriending calls.
10 officers, many of whom have been deployed from other roles to join the coronavirus support hub, explained the challenges and rewards of providing these much-needed services.
Mr Johnson thanked the team for their efforts and fed back his gratitude for the council's "absolutely outstanding job."
