Applying for a parking suspension

If you need to suspend a parking space, submit an online application form within the minimum notice period.

Apply for a parking suspension

We'll send you a confirmation email when we've approved the suspension. Please keep this email safe as it'll have details of the suspension and phone numbers you might need if an unauthorised vehicle parks in the suspended parking space.

Note: we do not accept applications over the phone.

Notice period

We require the following minimum notice period to process your application.

5 full working days notice to suspend the following parking spaces:

  • pay and display
  • loading
  • motorcycle
  • taxi rank

For example, for an application received before midday on a Monday, the first day of suspension would be on the following Monday.

7 full working days notice to suspend the following parking spaces:

  • permit holders
  • shared use (pay and display/permit holders)
  • business
  • disabled persons parking spaces

For example, for an application received before midday on a Monday, the first day of suspension would be on the following Wednesday.

7 full working days notice to suspend all types of parking spaces for the following types of event:

  • filming
  • public events

For example, for an application received before midday on a Monday the first day of suspension would be on the following Wednesday.

Note: Bank holidays and weekends are not counted as working days.

Extensions

We need at least 2 full working days notice to arrange an extension of an existing suspension. You'll need to submit a completed parking suspension online application form and pay the appropriate charges.

If the suspension is not extended before it runs out, we'll treat your request as a new application in which case the above minimum notice period will apply.
