Golf maintenance updates

Keeping you up to date with our maintenance programmes for Haste Hill, Ruislip and Uxbridge public golf courses.

Spring renovations

As part of our ongoing courses maintenance programme we will be carrying out extensive renovation work to the greens at Haste Hill and Uxbridge Public Golf Courses.

Scheduled works include:

  • Deep soil aeration to alleviate compaction and aid water penetration and drainage
  • Hollow coring to remove thatch and improve surface draining and oxygenate
  • Top dressing to restore surface levels, improve surface drainage and improve the soil growing medium

Throughout the period there will be intensive maintenance activity on the greens and approaches. This will involve specialist tractor mounted equipment, the bulk of which will be operational during the times of course closures.

These works will be carried out by the Golf Hillingdon greenkeeping team and the operations will be disruptive to golf at times. Temporary greens may be in play from time to time to ensure that the work is continuous and is completed as expediently as possible.

We ask that our customers be understanding during this renovation period and give priority to all greenkeeping staff.

Subject to favourable weather conditions, course closures will be:

Haste Hill Public Golf CourseUxbridge Public Golf Course
Monday 18 MarchThursday 21 March
Tuesday 19 MarchFriday 22 March
Monday 1 AprilThursday 4 April
Tuesday 2 AprilFriday 5 April

These vital works are necessary to ensure the best possible playing surfaces going into the summer. We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in helping us achieving these improved conditions.

Haste Hill Public Golf Course - 1st hole

Turf has been laid to bunker surrounds on the 1st hole.

The area remains roped off and out of play, this is to allow for the turf roofs to become fully established. If walked on it can also make the future surface very uneven. We ask golfers to refrain from entering the area, if your ball lands in this area please use a golf club or golf ball retriever to remove your ball.

The overhang is not the finished line; it will be cut to shape once the roots have fully taken.

We expect the turf to be fully established and in play for spring, subject to winter weather and temperatures.

Thank you for your cooperation.
