School work experience in our libraries
We offer a limited number of unpaid, short-term work experience placements every year, typically up to a maximum of 5 days.
We are currently offering placements for young people in statutory education (school years 10, 11, 12 and 13) in some of our libraries, focusing on developing customer service skills and supporting service delivery.
What you can expect
With work experience in our libraries, you will have the opportunity to gain experience of working in a library, teamwork and engaging with members of the public.
Work experience can give you a 'taster' for the job, help to boost your confidence and offer a real learning opportunity.
We will be flexible and supportive, and staff will be on hand to mentor you when are on a placement in our libraries.
Can I apply?
Applicants must live or study in the borough of Hillingdon to qualify for a placement.
Please note: Due to the number of applications we receive each year, we may not be able to meet with or offer a volunteer place to everyone who applies.
