Bikeability Level 1 and 2 Safer Cycling Course

Bikeability is the current cycling proficiency scheme that enables children to complete Levels 1, 2 and 3 to be safer cyclists on the roads.

The Bikeability programme is designed to give the next generation the skills and confidence to cycle on quiet roads independently.

The council are offering a course over the summer holiday:

  • Monday 19 August to Thursday 22 August

The course will be delivered by qualified instructors from our cycling team.

Courses are scheduled as am only, with full timetables on the booking page. Each day's session (all 4) must be attended to complete the awards. Courses are only available to young people who are 11 years and above or entering school year 6 in September 2024.

Course Information

  • Trainees must be able to ride a bike at a basic level of competence unaided. To include, cycle in a straight line, cycle one handed (left and right), use brakes to slow-down/stop.
  • Trainees attending the Bikeability course must have their own bike or use a suitable bike. 
  • Trainees must attend all sessions (unless they are unsuccessful in Level 1).
  • The bike must be roadworthy or they will not be able to take part in the course. Please view the TFL Quick Cycle Safety Check and LB of Hillingdon Cycle Check to help.

How to book

The course will run for 4 days for 2 hours, each day.
