Education, employment and/or training support for young people
If you're aged 16 to 19-years-old (or 16 to 25 with special educational needs) and not currently in education, are new to the borough, or are unemployed / at risk of becoming unemployed, we can:

  • help you get information on local services and education, employment and/or training opportunities
  • invite you to useful open days and webinars
  • put you in touch with people who offer specialist support services

If you would like this support, or know a young person who would, contact our participation team by emailing post16EET@hillingdon.gov.uk

ALDD courses brochure
We offer a range of courses for young people with special educational needs up to the age of 25.

Our courses embed basic English, maths, digital and transferable employability skills and aim to:

  • boost confidence
  • provide social interaction
  • develop independent living skills

Apprenticeships

We run an apprenticeship programme for recent school/college leavers and 16-year-olds and overs looking to re-train in a new career.

Find out about our apprenticeship programme

You can also search and apply for an apprenticeship on the GOV.uk website.

Employment rights

Young people have different employment rights from an adult worker.

Depending on your age, there are rules that regulate your working hours, minimum wage rates, holidays and health and safety at work.

Find out more about employment rights

Disabled workers share the same general employment rights as other workers; however, there are also some special provisions for them under the Equality Act 2010, which replaced the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
